To run again, just like he did back home, to feel free, the wind rushing through his white fur, that was a moment he longed for. Nikolas stood in his human form staring at the endless woods before him, ready to get back some of what he lost...what he felt he was missing, his freedom to be the wolf that he had been for so long. He shifted, the feeling less painful than it used to be because he had done this so many times. Taking the shape of a white wolf, Nikolas stood still, allowing himself to adjust to this form. A few years had passed since he did this.

As he set off, first at a slow pace, gradually picking up speed, he stopped at the center of the forest to take a rest, hunting as he’d done many times before, this time though instead of small game, Nikolas went after a buck, attacking its legs first, to make it stumble. When the buck was down, he quickly went for the throat, latching on until the creature stopped moving and as he’d done in the past, he settled in for a brief lunch, which he hardly ever did now. He preferred his food cooked, but this wasn’t about what he wanted. It was about becoming the wolf again.

This was in his very nature, so he feasted until he had his fill. Then he set off agsin, running faster this time, allowing himself to forget about his humanity, if only for a moment, just so he could genuinely feel his animalistic nature as he made himself familiar with the woods that would ultimately become his own personal playground. No people seemed to come to the woods, or none that he had seen yet, but Nikolas had recognized a few faces from the Enchanted Forest. Some would recognize him in his human form, but others would only know the wolf.

Having had enough of a run, he slowed now, walking casually through the woods, still in the form of a wolf. He was unwilling to shift just yet, not wanting to let go of the rush of feelings this had brought on. He continued on, trekking among trees and plants, feeling the leafy ground beneath his paws as he made his way toward the edge of the woods, where he stopped, sat down, and watched people on the street move about, completely unaware of his presence.

I'm on the hunt He knew the woods better than he did all of storybrooke itself. Much like his time in the Enchanted Forest, the Huntsman, or Graham as he was now called, had been a man of the forest rather than one to stay in villages or cities. He was raised in the woods by a pack of wolves, he learned how to take shelter from the rain and the cold, how to find food when it was scarce, and all around how to survive when survival seemed unlikely. It made him who he was, a Hunter of great skill, one who shed a tear for every animal to die by the tip of his arrow or other weapon of choice. This adventure into the forest had Graham believing that he was alone. His steps moved through the wild overgrown grass as boots shook away any bits of mud with each step he took. An old leather jacket clung along his toned build as a quiver sat upon his back where he had been at the ready. He was following a trail, a trail that had started quick and then slowed, this indicated to him that the buck he followed must have stopped as either it spied food, or it sensed danger. Whatever the case, Graham soon found something he hadn't expected. The buck had been ripped apart, something had fed on it, and a fingertip that touched the trickling blood from it's throat had proven to still be warm. Whatever the predator was that had done it, it had still been close. He rolled his shoulders as he stood once more and bow was drawn as one single arrow was held at the ready for whatever or whoever may be the culprit. The Sheriff had a firearm, although he was in the hunt, and in the hunt a weapon like a gun did nothing. Sure, it was effective, but it's loud gunshot scared any and everything away. If he were to miss? His prize would get away in fear of the loud noise. Then he'd be alone, with nothing. His cautious steps soon revealed what it was that he had been tracking though, the new steps made him shake his head as he found himself in disbelief. He followed, and followed, and soon, he found himself staring at the back of a wolf as it continued on it's way. It had to sense him, he doubted that even a man of his skill had gone undetected. But now came the part that worried him the most, would it attack? Would it leave him be? His bow was pulled back behind his back, as he had hoped that he wouldn't have had to use it. To kill a wolf? That was like killing his own relatives, and in a sense, it was. " Are you alone, boy? " At least words had come out, although he wasn't sure how the wolf would react, if it would even bother at all. He'd seen some before, although everyone in Storybrooke often insisted that there weren't any wolves like the one he described. This one, with its white fur, quickly fit that sort of description. Nikolas was busy watching people in his wolf form when he heard somone come up behind him, a man he didn’t recognize or know. He turned his head a few times, but for the most part, he ignored the man, that is, until he spoke. When he heard the question, Nikolas considered shifting right then and there, but he opted to remain a wolf and slowly turned, moving away from the edge of the woods to stand before the man. He sat, quietly observing him for a few minutes, wondering if they had ever met before.

hHe could tell right off that this man was a hunter, but he hadn’t attempted to hurt Nikolas, making him wonder just what kind of hunter he was. He didn’t plan to or intend to allow the man to think he was only a wolf, but Nikolas didn’t trust anyone, especially someone he didn’t know, so he remained sitting in front of the man and slowly took a step forward before returning to a sitting position again. Then as any wolf would do, he tilted his head back and howled quite loudly before letting his gaze rest on the hunter again.

As a show of peace, he laid down and rolled onto his side, tilting his head again to look at the man while remaining perfectly still. Nikolas wasn’t sure if the hunter would approach him or not, but this was the first time he had ever felt unthreatened around a human in this form, other than Begbie. It was different and brought on emotions he didn’t quite understand. Every human in the Enchanted Forest that he encountered had either been too afraid to stick around, managed to chase him off, or he killed them because they were one of Logan’s men sent to get rid of him. This man, however seemed a little less harmful, so he continued to lie there waiting for him to approach or leave.
